EnviroMac Newsletter: ISSUE 11 / MARCH 2014 Dear clients and subscribers On 14 April 2013, the Minister of Energy made several important announcements: Additional megawatts are allocated for window 3 of the REIPP (Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers) procurement programme. The DOE will accordingly add additional bidders under window 3. This will not affect the 1000 MW REIPP procurement programme for window 4, closing in August 2014 and which is on track. The DOE will also, during April and May 2014, commence with 800 MW of cogeneration and 2500 MW of coal generation procurement programmes respectively to complement the IPP’s licensed in the first three windows. Further announcements were also made in respect of the mandatory blending of biofuels, inauguration of the board of the National Radioactive Waste Disposal institution and the cessation of subsidization of imported solar water heaters. A more comprehensive press release is available on our website here. March further saw various developments in respect of air quality legislation reflected in this issue of the EnviroMac.
