NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: PROTECTED AREAS AMENDMENT ACT

The President has assented to the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Amendment Act 21 of 2014 ("Amendment Act") which amends the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act 57 of 2003.

The Amendment Act inserts provisions pertaining to the declaration of marine protected areas and restrictions in respect of activities within marine protected areas. The Amendment Act repeals section 43 of the Marine Living Resources Act 18 of 1998, which dealt with marine protected areas.

The Amendment Act commences on the date of publication (i.e. 2 June 2014).
