NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS ON THE PROPOSED DECLARATION OF THE KAROO CENTRAL ASTRONOMY ADVANTAGE AREA AND SUTHERLAND CENTRAL ASTONOMY ADVANTAGE AREA

ASTRONOMY GEOGRAPHIC ADVANTAGE ACT (21/2007)

The Minister of Science and Technology has, in accordance with section 42 of the Astronomy Geographic Advantage Act 21 of 2007, given notice of the public hearings that will be held on the proposed declaration of the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Area and the Sutherland Central Astronomy Advantage Area.

Notices of the Ministers intention to declare the aforesaid Central Astronomy Advantage Areas were published under Notice numbers: 468 and 471 dated 10 May 2013 and under Notice numbers: 669 and 670 dated 6 September 2013. In terms of such notices, interested and affected persons were invited to make written representations on or objections to the proposed declarations.

The purpose of the public hearings is to give persons who made written submissions and who indicated their intention to make oral representations the opportunity to do so. Any person who made a written submission in response to the said Notices but did not indicate his or her intention to make oral representations must, if he or she intends to do so, inform Mr. Mere Kgampe on or before 22 November 2013.
