The Minister of Environmental Affairs has, in terms of section 8 of the World Heritage Convention Act 49 of 1999, declared the MEC of the Northern Cape Department of Sports, Arts and Culture as the Management Authority responsible for the Richtersveld Cultural and Botanical Landscapes World Heritage Site for a period of five years subject to a performance review.
