The Minister of Water and Sanitation has, in terms of section 28 of the WSA, given notice of the extension of the area of operation of Sedibeng Water, to include the entire jurisdictional areas of both Dr Ruth Mopati District Municipality and Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality. The former Botshelo Water areas of operation and business in terms of staff, assets and liabilities are transferred to Sedibeng Water with effect from 1 October 2014. This arrangement is for a period of not more than five years whereby the Water Board will build capacity and enable Municipalities to take over the retail business in five years.
