The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has published the draft regulations on reviewed components of the South African Criteria, Indicators and Standards for Sustainable Forest Management.
The reviewed components in the regulations include, inter alia -
- Criteria and indicators to measure and monitor carbon stocks in forests;
- Research on carbon stocks and impacts of climate change relevant to the forestry sector;
- Insights on appropriate certification standards and guidance; and
- Updated operating procedures and audit template.
Members of the public were invited to submit written comments within 30 days of publication of this notice.
