The Minister of Mineral Resources has by notice in the Gazette, and effective as at date of publication of the abovementioned notice, amended the Broad Based Socio-Economic Empowerment Charter for the Mining and Minerals Industry, 2018, the original which was published on 27 September 2018 under Gazette Notice No. 41934.
The said amendments are in respect of inter alia transitional arrangements for licence applicants, holders of licences under the the Diamond and the Precious Metals Act respectively, as well as existing mineral rights holders. Further, pursuant to the notice amendments in respect of the reporting period for the First annual reporting on the Mining Charter, inclusive procurement, supplier and enterprise development have been effected as at date of publication of the notice.
