The Matatiele Local Municipality has published By-Laws relating to the keeping of animals, birds, poultry, cats, dogs and pets, and businesses involving the keeping of animals, birds, poultry, cats, dogs and pets.
The aim of the by-law is that of protecting and promoting the health and well-bring of all people in the Matatiele area by fostering an environment in which the public in general may enjoy peaceful and harmonious living conditions by managing livestock, pets and the businesses involved in their keeping.
