Heritage Western Cape has, in terms of section 27(2) of the NHRA, formally protected the archaeological and paleontological sites, unmarked burials, the landscape and natural features of cultural significance and structures situated on or at portions 18 to 36 of farm Verlorenvlei 8, Piketberg district, known as ''The Verlorenvlei Heritage Settlement".
