The President of the Republic of South Africa has, in terms of section 101 of the NEMICMA, determined the commencement date of sections 65, 66, 95, 96 and 98 of the Act to be 5 February 2016.
Sections 65 and 66 of the NEMICMA pertains to coastal use permits on coastal public property and sections 95 and 96 of the NEMICMA pertains to existing leases and unlawful structures on coastal public property. Section 98 of the NEMICMA sets out the provisions pertaining to the repeal and amendment of legislation.
