OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT (85/1993): INCORPORATION OF HEALTH AND SAFETY STANDARD IN TERMS OF SECTION 44(1) OF THE ACT: DRIVEN MACHINERY REGULATIONS 18(11)

The Chief Inspector has, in terms of section 27(1) of the OHSA read with regulation 18(11) of the Driven Machinery Regulation, 1988, given notice that all applications for approval from a person or organization who provides training to operators of lifting machines listed in the National Code of Practice for the training providers, will only be entertained if it is accompanied by a valid certificate issued by Transport Seta established in terms of the Skills Development Act 37 of 2008.

Furthermore, the notice sets out the National Code of Practice for the Training Providers of Lifting Machine Operators, which provides clarity and direction to all stakeholders directly or indirectly related to the accreditation and provision of training to lifting machine/equipment operators in South Africa.
