The Minister of Environmental Affairs has, in terms of section 24J of the NEMA, published the Environmental Impact Assessment Guideline for Renewable Energy. The guideline aims to ensure that all potential environmental issues pertaining to renewable energy projects are adequately and timeously assessed and addressed as necessary so as to ensure sustainable roll-out of these technologies by creating a better understanding of the environmental approval process for renewable energy projects.
