NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): GENERAL AUTHORISATION FOR WATER USES AS DEFINED IN SECTION 21(C) OR SECTION 21(1)

The Acting Director-General of the Department of Water and Sanitation has published the General Authorisation in terms of section 39(1) of the NWA applicable to the water uses in terms of sections 21(c) and (i) of the NWA pertaining to impeding or diverting the flow of water in a watercourse and altering the beds, banks, course or characteristics of a watercourse respectively.

The General Authorisation replaces the need for a water user to apply for a water use licence in terms of the NWA in respect of the aforesaid water uses, provided that the water use is within the limits and conditions of the General Authorisation.

The General Authorisation contained in GNR 1199 of 18 December 2009 in respect of the aforesaid water uses is hereby repealed.
