The Minister of Environmental Affairs has published for public comment, the intention to declare, in terms of section 22A of the NEMPAA, the following marine protected areas –
- The Port Elizabeth Coral Marine Protected Area (GNR 92 of 3 February 2016);
- The Benguela Bank Marine Protected Area (GNR 93 of 3 February 2016);
- The Agulhas Front Marine Protected Area (GNR 95 on 3 February 2016);
- The Browns Bank Corals Marine Protected Area (GNR 96 on 3 February 2016);
- The Childs Bank Marine Protected Area (GNR 97 on 3 February 2016);
- The Browns Bank Complex Marine Protected Area (GNR 98 on 3 February 2016);
- The Agulhas Bank Complex Marine Protected Area (GNR 106 on 3 February 2016);
- The uThukela Banks Marine Protected Area (GNR 108 on 3 February 2016);
- The Amathole Offshore Marine Protected Area (GNR 109 on 3 February 2016);
- The Agulhas Muds Marine Protected Area (GNR 112 on 3 February 2016);
- The Browns Bank Corals Marine Protected Area (GNR 115 on 3 February 2016);
- The Addo Elephant Marine Protected Area (GNR 116 on 3 February 2016);
- The Southwest Indian Seamount Marine Protected Area (GNR 120 on 3 February 2016);
- The Robben Island Marine Protected Area (GNR 122 on 3 February 2016);
- The Southeast Atlantic Seamount Marine Protected Area (GNR 124 on 3 February 2016);
- The Namaqua Fossil Forest Marine Protected Area (GNR 126 on 3 February 2016);
- The Namaqua National Park Marine Protected Area (GNR 127 on 3 February 2016);

Members of the public are invited to submit written comments within 90 days from the date of publication of these notices (i.e. on or before 3 May 2016).
