The South African Heritage Resources Agency has, in terms of section 27(5) of the National Heritage Resources Act 25 of 1999, declared Lake Fundudzi Cultural Landscape as a National Heritage Site. The site is considered significant due to its rich history associated with living and sacred heritage and scientific value.
