The President has, in terms of Section 15 of the Marine Spatial Planning Act, 2018, determined that the said Act shall come into operation by publication in the Gazette.
The purpose of this Act is to provide a framework for marine spatial planning in South Africa; to provide for the development of marine spatial plans, for institutional arrangements for the implementation of marine spatial plans and governance of the use of the ocean by multiple sectors and to provide for matters connected therewith.
This Act applies to marine spatial planning on or in South African waters and binds all organs of state.
