The Minister of Mineral Resources as determined the commencement date of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Amendment Act 49 of 2008 to be 7 June 2013. The commencement of this Act triggers various amendments to the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act 28 of 2002 and the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 in respect of, inter alia, the competent authority in respect of environmental authorisations on mines.
