NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT (107/1998): NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ADOPT GAUTENG PROVINCIAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK (GPEMF) STANDARDS AND EXCLUSION OF ACTIVITIES

The Minister of Environmental Affairs has given notice, in terms of sections 24(2)(d) and 24(10)(a) read with section 24(10)(d) of the NEMA, that she intends to adopt the Gauteng Provincial Environmental Management Framework (“GPEMF”) Standards and to exclude activities from the requirement to obtain environmental authorisation, as set out in the schedule to this notice.

The GPEMF Standards sets out a list of activities that are excluded from the requirement to obtain an environmental authorisation in terms of the NEMA, provided that these are undertaken within Zone 1 or Zone 5 of the Gauteng Province as identified in terms of the Gauteng Provincial Environmental Management Framework and that they furthermore comply with the requirements of the GPEMF Standards.

Members of the public were invited to submit written comments within 30 days of the publication of this notice.
