The Minister of Mineral Resources has, in terms of section 49(1) of the MPRDA, having regard to the national interest to protect the sensitive environment of areas within the buffer zone of the Mapungubwe World Heritage Site, given notice of his intention to, in respect of the farms set out in the table to this notice –
- Restrict the granting of any mining right to the extent that the mining action, activity or process concerned must first be modified in such a manner that there will be no physical impact on the surface of the land; and
- Prohibit the granting of any further applications for prospecting or mining permits.
Members of the public are invited to submit written comments or inputs to the Minister within 30 days of publication of this notice.
