The North West Biodiversity Management Act 4 of 2016 has been published and will commence on a date to be determined by the responsible Member.
The Act aims to provide for the management and conservation of the North West Province's biophysical environment and protected areas within the framework of NEMA. It provides for, inter alia, the protection of species and ecological-systems that warrant provincial protection and for the sustainable use of indigenous biological resources.
