NATIONAL WATER ACT (36/1998): REGULATIONS RELATING TO ACCESS AND USE OF GOVERNMENT WATERWORKS AND SURROUNDING STATE-OWNED LAND FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES

The Minister of Water and Sanitation has, in terms of section 116 of the NWA, given notice of his intention to make regulations relating to the access and use of government waterworks as well as to  manage surrounding state-owned land for recreational purposes.

The regulations will, inter alia, regulate the control over government waterworks, manage hygiene and waste management, serve to protect the biodiversity within the jurisdiction of government works and apply penalties and fines where non-compliance is identified.

Members of the public are invited to submit written comments within 2 months of publication of this notice (i.e. on or before 29 December 2015).
