The eThekwini Municipal Council has enacted, in terms of section 12 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act 32 of 2000, the Waste Removal By-Laws published under MN 117 on 25 August 2016. The by-law aims to, inter alia, regulate the collection and removal of domestic waste and business waste by the Municipality; ensure proper waste management at events; and provide for the registration of waste removal contractors.
